Volker von Tuchtenhagen: Unfortunate minor noble of the Imperial court. Volker had the misfortune to get drunk at the von Tasseninck's ball in Altdorf in 2506 and defame the conduct of Countess Emmanuelle von Liebewitz. Likening the Countess of Nuln to a rutting rabbit was particularly ill-chosen as her brother, noted duellists Leos von Liebewitz, was also in attendance at the von Tasseninck residence.
Hauled from his bed, hungover and reluctant to confront the Empire's premier swordsman, von Tuchtenhagen first tried to appease Leos with an apology, then begged for 'first blood' and finally resorted to having himself replaced on the field of combat with his family champion, Toten Ungenhauer. Toten, a vastly-muscled brawler and gladiator, seemed so certain to beat the slender von Liebewitz that Volker dug himself into deeper trouble by suggesting that Emmanuelle slept with halflings, servants, sailors and mutants. Volker's ill-luck continued, as his hulking champion was dispatched in seconds and Volker himself was garrotted by von Liebewitz, having forfeited the right to death by sword by employing a champion.
Given the incident described in Yefimovich's revolutionary tract Beasts in Green Velvet, he probably deserved it.
